Basic Nut/Seed Activation Recipe
Activated nuts and seeds can provide a delicious, nutritious, and easily digestible source of plant-based protein that can be used in a variety of recipes. If you’re someone who loves nuts but struggles with digestion issues or simply wants to boost your nutrition, consider giving activation a try. With a few simple steps, you can unlock the hidden magic of nuts and seeds and take your snacking game to a whole new level!
1) Start with 1 pound of raw nuts or seeds.
2) Soak in enough filtered water to cover by 2 inches. (see ‘soak’ times below based on type of nut/seed)
3) Add salt (about 1 tbsp. of Baja Gold per pound.)
4) Drain & rinse.
5) Dehydrate at 115°F–120°F for 12–24 hours, until completely dry and crisp.
*Don’t skip the dehydration step—moist nuts can mold.
Soak times:
Almonds: 12–18 hours
Cashews: 2–4 hours (shorter soak or they get slimy)
Walnuts & pecans: 6–8 hours
Pumpkin seeds: 6–8 hours
Sunflower seeds: 4–6 hours
